Certification

One Certificate, A Verified Standard of Competency

Every participant who completes the program receives an official certificate from NextNusa Ocean Technology Academy, complete with a QR code that can be scanned to check its authenticity and status at any time.

Verified Through XVerif

NextNusa certificates are issued in partnership with XVerif — a digital credential & trust infrastructure that lets anyone verify a certificate's authenticity and status in real time: Valid, Expired, Expiring Soon, or Revoked.

Every NextNusa certificate carries a unique number and QR code linked directly to the XVerif public verification page, complete with the curriculum track record the participant has completed — not just a certificate name.

Certificate Validity

Certificate Scope Validity
Certificate of Training Completion Level 1–2 Valid for life
Certificate of Competency Achievement Level 3–4 4 years from date of issue

Level 3–4 certificates require periodic recertification in line with ROV technology developments.

This certificate states completion of a training program developed with reference to applicable IMCA guidance (IMCA-aligned), and is not an approved or certified IMCA qualification.

Why Operational Competency Needs to Be Renewed

Competency is not static. Over a four-year span, ROV technology advances, safety procedures are updated, and industry guidance gets revised. Someone competent in 2026 may no longer meet current practice standards in 2030 without an update.

That is why NextNusa does not apply the principle that "long experience automatically means still competent." Years of work experience is proof of experience — not proof that your current work practice still matches today's standards. Re-verification protects you, your team, and the company you work for.

Certificate Renewal

Renewal of competency certificates (Level 3–4) is available through three tracks based on verifiable practice evidence. NextNusa does not require participants to repeat the entire training program — the renewal workload is adjusted to the practice evidence held during the certificate's validity period.

Track A
Active Practitioner

For participants who remain actively working in an ROV role throughout the certificate's validity period.

Duration: 1 day (part can be done remotely)

Track B
Partial Practice

For participants with a practice gap, or who have moved to a role that is not fully relevant.

Duration: 3–5 days

Track C
Dormant

For participants with no continuous practice evidence since graduating, or whose certificate has been expired for more than 12 months.

Duration: Depends on the modules taken

The track is determined by the Training Manager based on verification of the evidence submitted — not by the participant's choice. Basic prerequisites (a valid offshore medical certificate and offshore survival training) must remain valid before a renewal application can be processed.
